This online course will cover the most common diseases and conditions you will encounter in your daily practice as a GP. Abnormalities of hair & nails, may be specific diseases in themselves, or signs of underlying disease.
This course consists of two online topics:
- Hair – basic structure, types, common conditions
- Nails – basic structure, common conditions
Lectures & Case Studies
Watch live or recorded lectures and participate in open discussion on diagnosis and management direct with our expert Dermatologists.
Assessments
Assessment for this course requires the satisfactory completion of topic based quizzes, participation in the case discussion forum, submission of 2 case studies and a final MCQ exam.
Required Hours
This course requires 15 study hours and you will have 16 weeks to complete your course from date of enrolment.

Enrolment dates do not apply for this course. You can enrol in this course at any time and access the course material for 16 weeks. Please be advised that the live webinar occurs in Trimester 1 and enrolment in this trimester is thus encouraged. Webinar recordings are provided for enrolment outside of Trimester 1.

At the successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the basic structure and function of hair and nails
- Implement a systematic and professional approach to the examination of hair and nails
- Assess and diagnose common conditions associated with the hair and nails
- Plan and develop treatment and management regimens appropriate to the common conditions of hair and nails that are diagnosed
- Demonstrate effective communication skills to explore a patient’s concerns and expectations
- Assess when to refer a patient on to a specialist

This course is aimed at General Practitioners, Registrars and prevocational Doctors. Nurse practitioners are also eligible for this course. For queries regarding your eligibility, please contact us.
*General Practitioners practicing outside of Australia are also welcome to enroll in the course, but have to submit their qualifications for verification BEFORE enrolling. Please email your primary medical qualifications/degrees to us and we will get back to you with further instructions.
