You can start our courses anytime as all material is available online.
Interactive course components such as workshops and live webinars only run during Trimester times. Information, such as your certificate start date, duration of each course and your study map, is provided by our Student Services Officer upon enrolment.
All of our courses, including webinars, are all delivered in an online format.
The Certificate of Practical Dermoscopy and the Certificate of Melanography Essentials are delivered in a blended study mode and include both online learning and a face to face practical workshop component.
All our courses have one or a combination of case study submissions, case discussion forums, short answer and multiple-choice exams or practice scenarios. These are open throughout the trimester and do not have to be done on a certain date.
Upon successful completion of our courses, you will receive a statement of completion with the number of awarded CPD hours and categories in compliance with the RACGP CPD program requirements. You will also be awarded a certificate for the relevant course issued by Dermatology Australasia.
Live webinars provide an invaluable learning opportunity where students can ask questions and interact with teaching dermatologists and their peers.
While participation in the live sessions is not mandatory, we encourage all learners to attend them.
We understand, that for various reasons, this may not always be possible, therefore recordings of live webinars are also accessible through our student portal.

You will need to contact gpderm@dermcoll.edu.au and ask for an extension and to reactivate your course access. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more information on extensions and deferments.
Please click into the Discussion Forum that is available to you – there should be only one, the others should not be accessible. Then choose ‘All participants’ in the ‘Visible groups’ dropdown, and the cases should appear.
Follow the steps in the previous section. Then click into any Case Study by clicking on the heading.
Scroll down to the bottom of the Case Study and click the reply button to submit your answer.
Once you have submitted your answer, you will be able to see the correct answer, as well as other students’ submissions within 30 minutes.
This may have several reasons:
- You may need to have a look at the section of the course and see if there is a completion box to tick.
- You may not have fulfilled all the requirements within the section (questions, quizzes, assessments).
- It may be an issue on the back end. If none of the above options have worked, please contact gpderm@dermcoll.edu.au and explain the issue.
After watching the webinar recordings, you need to go back to the course page to tick the empty check box that is next to the activity. This activity will then turn green on your progress bar.
Yes, you can access to your course contents throughout your enrolment, whether it is during or outside of trimester times. However, interactive components of your course, like live webinars, only happen during trimester times and your teaching dermatologists are only available during trimester times to answer questions and mark assessments.
If you are enrolled in individual courses, you will need apply for an extension or deferment by emailing us at gpderm@dermcoll.edu.au within 2 weeks of course access expiry. Please note that if you would like to defer your studies, you won’t be able to access your course contents during the deferment, but the deferment period will be added to the length of your enrolment.
If you are an Advanced Certificate student, there is no specific timeframe in terms of how long you have to complete each individual course, as long as you complete all the required courses within the allocated 2 years (for the Advanced Certificate of General Dermatology or Advanced Certificate of Skin Cancer) or 4 years (for the Advanced Certificate of Dermatology and Skin Cancer).
