Dr Carew has a strong interest and commitment to Medical education, this started as a medical educator for Qld Rural Medical Education (QRME) a regional training provider for General Practitioners. Dr Carew has also worked as a Medical Educator within the University of Qld, his appointments included included Academic Co-ordinator (General Practice) Rural Clinical School of Medicine (Rockhampton) and co-director of the Master of Skin Cancer Medicine Program (2018/2019). He is a current board member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. 

Dr Carew was involved in the initial development of the Practical Dermoscopy course workshops for the Australasian College of Dermatology and remains actively involved in the ongoing delivery of this course.
