Maria is a registered nurse and healthcare educator, her interest in management of skin related conditions commenced in the UK when she specialised in in plastic surgery and burns intensive care nursing practice. Moving to Australia when practicing as a dermatology nurse Maria developed a special interest in skin cancer surveillance. Maria is also a healthcare educator and has extensive experience in facilitating nursing and healthcare related courses.
Maria has designed courses in dermoscopy and skin cancer surveillance imaging and has been instrumental in developing principles and standards for skin cancer surveillance imaging practice. Maria has contributed to the development of skin cancer diagnosis AI and over recent years she has focussed on quality and governance for skin cancer surveillance services.
Maria collaborated with The Australasian College of Dermatologists in the development of Dermatology Australia’s Certificate of Melanography Essentials and has been an assessor and workshop facilitator for the course since 2016.
